Frequently Asked Questions

What is the method of calculating payments on the pool?

Our pool offers reward system by found block (SOLO).

What does SOLO mean?

The miner receives a reward only if he finds a block.

The miner does not receive a reward for shares or time spent.

Is the AsicBoost supported?

Yes, it is supported.

Does MillPools support SSL mining?

No. At this time we only support direct connection.

How long until I see activity & earnings after connecting my miner?

A miner usually stabilizes after 10-15 minutes.

After that time has passed, you should be able to check your operation status and profits via the ‘Accounts’ page on our website.

Is MillPools compatible with NiceHash?

NiceHash is a cloud service that sells hashrate which can then be used on our pool to mine. Currently, MillPools is compatible with this type of service, meaning you can use the purchased hashrate on MillPools.

However, please note that we cannot guarantee future compatibility as services such as NiceHash are operated by a 3rd party and not MillPools.

What is an orphan block?

An Orphan Block is a valid block, but it is not a component of the blockchain. This type of block is produced when two miners discover a valid block (we’ll refer to these as block A and block B) at approximately the same time and transmit them both of them to the network.

Block A (the Orphan Block) is at first confirmed by some nodes (typically those geographically close to the miner) but Block B accumulates more proof of work. Therefore, Block B is confirmed by more nodes and goes on to be a parent block for the next. Block A is then labeled invalid because it isn’t a part of the longest chain.

Note that miners do not receive a reward for Orphan Blocks.

Why is it taking so long to find a block?

Longer wait times between finding new blocks can be triggered by the miner experiencing a period of temporary bad luck. For instance, if the miner’s current hashrate and the current network difficulty estimate that the miner will discover 1 block every 4 hours, this estimation is only an average. Over the short term, the miner may discover a block just 1 hour after the discovery of the previous one, but then not find another block for several hours after that. It’s important to understand that past luck has no impact whatsoever on the future.

Ultimately, luck always averages 100% — balancing the highs and lows.

What is a wallet address and how can I obtain one?

Typically, when you transfer funds using a bank, you have to provide the account number of the recipient. With cryptocurrencies, a wallet address is very similar to a bank account number. A wallet address can be generated using an official wallet client. You can also get one from a cryptocurrency exchange by signing up for an account with that exchange.

Please note that wallet addresses are not universal; you will need to use a different address for different types of coins.
